My Short Bio

After Graduating from FHHS in 1963, I Attended the
University of Florida for 7 years.

I Played Basketball and Ran Track while on an Athletic
Scholarship at the U of F, and became a Member of
the Sigma Chi Fraternity

I Joined the Army ROTC while at the U of F, to stay out of
Vietnam for 2 more years. I figured that I had to serve my
country one way or another, so at least I could serve as an
Officer upon Graduation.

"While in the service, the Olympic Sport of Handball was being
promoted, and I was in the right place, at the right time, with
right skills, that enabled me to make the US Olympic Handball
team in 1972"

I Served in the US Army as a Captain from Sept 1970 through
August 1972. I was Stationed in Ft Campbell, KY and
Ft Hamilton, NY.

I went to work for the PBC School System as a
 FHHS Health Teacher
.

I Met and Married  Renee M. Sayles

"Classmates, Education today, as compared to when we were in
school, is like comparing Black to White. We really had a great school
and were in school when there was much parental support and only
2 TV stations. There were no electronic gizmos to cause us to
ignore the real world."

I stayed for 38 years and I retired  June 5th 2009.

These days I am becoming a Master Gardner and learning more about
horticulture all the time.

I am also taking Painting classes and Painting, mainly, Florida landscapes.

Some Childhood Pictures - The Good Old Days

Frank Saier on left, Harry Winkler in Middle and my Brother Glenn on right during mid 50's. Our Parents would drop us off at the Flagler Memorial bridge and we would fish all day and have a ball. They would pick us up in the late afternoon.

Frank Saier on left and Harry Winkler on right at Conniston circa about 1960

A photo circa about 1962 shot in front of my house on El Prado, just north of Conniston.
Harry Winkler on left, to the right Bruce Lyons who lived across the street from
me,  Dennis Wilkinson who we died in Vietnam, and John Weber who was wounded in
Vietnam at dusk and took 7 units of blood to keep him alive until the dawn,
when he was medevaced  out.
I taught three of his kids who are all great success stories.
