My  Bio

After Graduating from FHHS in 1963, I Attended The Citadel, from 1963 through 1968 earning a BS in Civil Engineering. Later I attended Colorado State University earning a MS in Water Resource Development. I also did some Graduate school studies in Ocean Engineering at the Univ of Miami from1968 to 1970, while working for a structural engineering firm in Miami.

I Joined the US Army in 1968 and was first stationed at
Ft. Belvoir, Feb 1970 to June 1970 - 2nd LT
US Army Engineer District, Mobile, Al,
June 1970 to June 1972 - 1st LT
Alabama National Guard, Combat Engineer
June 1972 to August 1975 - Captain
US Army Reserve, 412th and 416th Engineer Commands
June 1976 to November 1996 - Colonel

I started with the Mobile District as a Military Officer and stayed as a Civilian Engineered after completing active duty. I designed channels, spillways,  navigation locks, and flood control features for major civil works projects such as the Tenn-Tom Waterway. I traveled to China in 1985 for over a month to consult with Chinese engineers designing the Three Gorges Project on the Yangtze River.

" I enjoyed a great military career as an Engineer Officer with opportunities to travel to all continents excepts Antarctica and Australia. I served a reserve tour as a Assistant Theater Engineer for the European Theater Command (EUCOM) in Stuttgart, Germany, providing Engineer Support for Desert Storm operations"

Private Consulting Engineer 2001- Present

I retired in 2001 as the Chief of the Hydrology and Hydraulic Engineering Branch.

I have been Married twice and divorced once. I am Married to Mary
H. Whittington. We have been married now since 1983 and couldn't be happier.
Mary and I are both retired from the Corps of Engineers. We now work only
on limited projects, when a job and the time involved suits us.

We have three children, two mine and one of hers,  Son Benjamin, Daughters
Shana and Amanda, Grandsons Lance, Bradley, Trace, and Drennen
and Granddaughters Jessica, Erin and Destanie.

We have a beautiful home on a golf course and spend most of our time there
if we don't have any of the grandchildren.
